Is massage right for me?

If you are drawn to massage, then it is certainly an indicator that it could be right for you. People come in for a number of different reasons. This includes sports and workout related soreness, a sudden stiff neck or back, an ache that won’t go away, stress relief, relaxation. Some find it to be emotionally healing as massage is working out tension that is stored in the body which could be there for emotional reasons. You might be surprised just how much massage will help you, so it’s worth a shot! If you just want a taste, a 30 minute session is a great way to start.

How often should I get massage/reiki/cranial sacral treatment?

This depends first on the reason for you coming in. If there is a sudden and intense ache that you need help with, it is important to continue coming in regularly until it is mostly resolved. This can look like weekly sessions, then biweekly, etc. But it’s important that you listen to your body and track the pain. If the pain goes away after one session, then you might not need to come in on a weekly basis. For general maintenance, I trying out a monthly program. Some people like every two weeks, some every six weeks. It does depend on your interests and financial abilities (of course), so do what is best for you, but you’ll generally start to feel amazing if you keep up with regular monthly sessions (every 3-5 weeks).

What is reiki/energy healing?

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing in which the practitioner channels universal life force energy sending it to the client’s energy field to promote wellness, relaxation, and healing. This can be a mixture of hands on and hovering above the body. Our energy fields extend all around our body and contain information from our past and current circumstances. Have you ever felt someone getting a little too close to your personal space? Or entered a room and picked up the emotional information there? These are very basic ways we understand energy, but don’t always recognize it as “energy.” Reiki can be helpful with soothing and balancing our energy bodies, and physical bodies, too. People can feel lighter, more grounded, relaxed, emotionally more stable, and less pain after receiving reiki. I like to include crystals and sound healing in my sessions, as well.
